Monday, October 5, 2009 - Popped, decanted and poured one glass to taste early. Then decanted for twenty minutes to one hour. The longer the wine breathed, the better it got with exception to the nose. Early, the nose was very prominent, wild mountain berry, damp earth with some flesh and vanilla notes. As the wine opened up, the nose became less prominent and what initially seemed thin on the palate revealed elegance and subtlety. The big RRV power is not in this vintage and its nice to be reminded that not all pinots are "boys". Greg is an exceptional maker of fine pinots!
