92 Points

Monday, September 12, 2022 - French road trip, mainly Rhône valley; 9/4/2022-9/18/2022: From open 75cl at Domaine de la Mordorée tasting room. Tight, dense, complex spicy/herbal/garrigue scent; the huge, primary entry is Grenache-dominated, with the Syrah emerging on the juicy, sweet-fruited (Ribena, anyone?) mid-palate, pretty tight and stiff with its 15,5% alc., but good potential. Persistent, furry-tannic finish, on which some promising acidity finally comes through the thick texture. Leave well alone until at least 2025(+), for my taste, more like 2032. The first vintage of this wine to be Demeter certified, an achievement probably reflected in the steep price: 56 EUR at cellar door. 91-92P(?)
