The fruit is there but muted, although jammy, in the end. Some toasty oak on the finish as well. Very well mannered but lacking in excitement and intensity. I would describe it as something in the nature of a very well aged Italian barolo - perhaps a bit past its prime. I popped and poured this, so it was not affected by any decanting. I will try again and see if other bottles have the same characteristics.
