Saturday, May 23, 2009 - This wine was surprisingly spry, showing that long-lived wines can come from Napa. This wine smelt of leather, elderberries, mature spice, eucalyptis, and earth. The wine was almost sweet on the palate, with rich molassis surrounded by loam, mint, roasted mushrooms, allspice, and sage. The finish was long, and pleasant. This wine was not overwhelming, nor was it in any way like modern Napa wines. Balance was its best asset. Not exactly Bordeaux either. Hard to characterize, but it was very nice.
