90 Points

Wednesday, May 10, 2023 - Fairly dark garnet, nicely medium body, there’s some decent light spice and fruit compote on the nose; the palate shows quite lovely fruit, medium intensity, a mix of darker cherry with a bit of higher toned raspberry, and some little savory streaks woven in. Decent acidity, tannins are light and fine, but enough for nice overall balance. There’s a warmth to the fruit, showing hints of the solar vintage, but really it just makes the wine more delicious at this young age. I’m not sure how this will develop in the cellar, it’s pretty much at peak right now lol. Very tasty.

Next night: still tasty, but there’s a definite solar quality to the wine. Not Russian River ripe, but a noticeable roasted character in the background. I’m enjoying the remains of the bottle, but I don’t think this is a wine to put away for long term aging.
