92 Points

Saturday, March 11, 2006 - Saturday Grilling at Fernando's (Fernando's House): Medium ruby color with a rim tending towards tawny. Quite a lot of development on the nose, which is very intense. Elements of sweet pipe tobacco, caramel and red cherries. On the palate it is not quite as impressive, as some of the attack is lost. The acidity makes this a definite food wine, and it really shone with roast meat. Served alone I would deduct a point or so. Nice clean finish. It's definitely a good example of traditional Rioja.
