Tuesday, February 19, 2008 - Great cherry red color with great legs, nose is very berrylicious with no heat. Right out of the bottle, it has almost an astringent quality and an odd aftertaste. After sitting in the glass the astringency has died down and I'm getting a little bit of earth and tobacco maybe.

Curious to see how this will be on day two.

UPDATE: Definitely mellowed out on days two and three. I actually really like it now and that strange finish is gone. I'm interested in seeing if this is common with this grape or a unique characteristic of this bottling.
