Saturday, September 4, 2010 - Decanted for one hour. Stunning nose of black fruits, mint, cedar and spice. Dark purple plum in color. Delicious mature palate of cassis, blueberry, plum and a touch of earth and oak. No tannin. Should hold up well for several more years. Drunk side by side with 04 Montelena Estate which was a much bigger wine and still very tannic. Considering the off vintage for CA, the Phelps is a beauty and drank perfectly with veal medallions in fresh porcini mushroom sauce.
