Monday, May 30, 2016 - Drinking amazingly well right now - in a perfect drinking window and probably has at least another 3-5 good years left with proper cellaring but do not see further improvement / a further upside to continued cellaring and would thus encourage starting to drink up holdings. The price point is so high that even with that score this wine is not a particularly good QPR wine. Short ~ 30 minute decant and ideally would have decanted at least another 30 minutes. Paired perfectly with a smoked elk roast. Deep reddish - purple, medium - full bodied, soft mouth feel, very complex, well balanced and soft but long and lingering aftertaste. Muted nose of plum, blueberry, licorice and a hint of mint with primary flavors of very well balanced oak, fruit and cassis up front with a more complex mid - late palate earthy mushrooms, smoke and a hint of vanilla. Highly recommend this wine despite the formidable price point.
