Thursday, February 22, 2024 - By the glass pour. Dark ruby. Mint and violet nose that is oh so Syrah. Medium weight, lively blue fruit, strong acids, and moderate tannins. Very enjoyable until after one hour in the glass, light cork taint reared its ugly head (which was definitely there despite the protestations of the chief sommelier). Based upon the initial impression, though, this is a terrific young St. Joseph which I would gladly drink and purchase. It was kind of funny to run across a corked wine in New Zealand, where virtually everything we’ve drunk has been under screwcap! Of course it had to be French.
