Monday, January 22, 2024 - Under composite cork. Some bottle breathing. Medium deep ripe plummy red colour. Fresh, young nose of boysenberry, blackberry, toasted oak, dried herbs a touch of soy sauce and some black currant leaf. Not yeasty; just young. Medium-full bodied, crunchy fruit, elevated acid, fine sandy tannins and a squeeky finish that is quite dry. Palate mostly follows the nose. A little light on the fruit extract that feels a tad hollow at the front end, but it fills out on the back end to compensate. Needs time to knit. Well made and a good short term cellar candidate. Drink over the next five years or so.
