Thursday, August 13, 2015 - Blind Tasting Challenge (Tribeca Wine Merchants): Obvious oak upfront, with sweet coconut framing very ripe, black cassis fruit showing some cedary development. Fleshy and silky at first, with the oak showing more in the midplate, quite dense. The macerated blackberry fruit profile is a little overripe for me, but it's not sweet and the acidity is there, and there's just a hint of alcohol on the finish that shows an interesting herbal note. I guessed Rioja due to what seemed like American oak.
