Saturday, January 19, 2008 - Vary pale garnet core, wide pale, orangey rim. Delicate nose, sweet strawberry fruit, a gamey and earthy edge developing with time in glass. Light but pleasant on the palate, with a mellow, restrained, silky mid-palate showing sweet red fruit and gamey/earthy notes, some chalky minerality, vigorous acidity and then a little firm, unresolved tannin at the tail end of the medium length finish. Enjoyable, mature Volnay, showing good typicity but perhaps lacking a little depth and density. Now and over the next 2-3 years.
