Friday, September 22, 2023 - a taste of Washington State - Long Shadows wines: [apparently a Gilles Nicault solo effort]

greenish gold with medium-plus body. a passing whiff of grass gives way to ripe pears, melon, pineapple and honeysuckle laced with savoury herbs. the richness of flavour and texture continues in the mouth along with a bracing acidity. coriander spice notes and a saline mineral note emerge mid palate and lead into a long finish that turns slightly sweet.

while still fresh, this is a bold and rich style of SB that may not be to everyone's liking. i suspect a bit of age may tame the exuberance and flesh out more complexities.

14.2% AbV; mostly from a warm site planted in 1972; aged in a mix of concrete tanks, stainless and French oak.
