Sunday, October 25, 2009 - Smoke and very dark ripe plums on the nose. So incredibly inviting. I love the 2004 vintage – fresh, grapes just mature enough to soften the tannins, but not so much to make the wine overly powerful in the fruit department. The resulting complexity is a testament to that peculiar mix of elegance and power that I associate with Saint-Emilion – succulent dark fruit, a hint of bitter chocolate, rosemary, graphite and finishes with a touch of spice. Very good and will get better. Drink now-2014. Food pairing: Duck.
