There were no flaws in the wine - it was excellent - yet it somehow never reached the heights, either in aroma or flavor, of the very best examples of '70 Palmer. There was more acidity than usual but not excessively so. It improved in the glass over a couple of hours at the restaurant. I quite liked it, but did not fall in love.
