Saturday, October 20, 2018 - I found a few bottles of this wine last year, so here's an assessment 5 years on from my last encounter. (Likely that either wine, me, or both, have evolved since then.) Initial reaction: OK this is an old wine. And I say this in the kindest possible way. It has the sweet-smelling aromatic patina of desiccated berries, dried flowers and early-autumn hay. On the palate, it is light, almost floating. The tannin is mild but still present, which helps explain why this wine still clings tightly to life. But there isn't a lot of complexity, just wine. I'll save one last bottle for 2020, its 50th anniversary. (I'm not sure if any bottles are worth keeping after that!)
