Tuesday, September 2, 2008 - Medium ruby, a bit lighter than the Margaux served the same evening. I was a little worried about this bottle, as it exhibited a definite "funk" on the nose, which persisted for at least 45 minutes after decanting. Eventually, this "stank" blew off to reveal a stunning nose of dark fruit, currant, spices and saddle leather. In the mouth, more dark fruits and earthiness followed by a finish of close to a minute. Tied for the best HB in my experience with the Philly bottle of last year. Killer stuff.
