Wednesday, June 7, 2023 - I had tried this wine at the Nantucket Food and Wine Festival and loved it. I would have rated it a 94 then. The nose had a lot of earth, smoke, some hints of dark fruit. And the palate was well balanced. So I ordered a case of it and it's somehow not the same. There was still some earth and complexity to the nose, but the finish was quite anemic. I'll try another bottle at another time, perhaps, letting it breathe for a while before trying it again.

6/14/2023 10:08:00 AM - Thank you, interesting - I'm a big fan of Chris Howell's work and in general I find his wines need cellar time and decanting. It takes time to coax them out of their shell, especially really young ones. Just curious -- Did you drink out of the bottle? How long between opening and drinking? Maybe the difference from Nantucket was that the bottle was opened for a few hours or maybe the day before. I'm going to try a 2018 later this week and will report back

6/14/2023 7:50:00 PM - I did drink it right out of the bottle. I could have sworn that the bottles at the Nantucket Wine festival were all intact and uncorked as needed. Anyways, to carib, I'd be curious to see what you think after you've tried it.

10/29/2023 7:37:00 AM - Just opened another bottle recently and this time, the nose is exactly as I remembered it from my initial tasting at the Nantucket wine festival. It was wonderful. will readjust my score accordingly to 94. Perhaps, the previous bottle was off, or maybe i just had an off day.
