Friday, January 12, 2024 - Day 1:
Drank from Eva Solo Burgundy, round bowled.
Darker shade of ruby.
Complex nose showing dark cherries, smoke and dry-aged steak, roses and oaky nutmeg, all wrapped in a green aroma like rose leaves. I’ve only ever had this exact green aroma before in a Sea Smoke wine, where it completely dominated the nose; here it’s a pleasant addition.
Soft and velvety with ripe fruits and quite a bit of crunch in the mouth. Fine tannins in the finish.
Day 3:
Drank from Zwiesel Moment Pinot
It feels like it’s come to it’s own now. More bright red fruit, cranberries and raspberries. Still some smokey meat, and now a stoney mineral aroma. Harmonious and charming.
Drinks very well now. Will age well, but no need to wait.
Given the price of pinots from Burgundy, California and Oregon, this is a scoop.
