Thursday, January 25, 2024 - There is something wrong with this wine, and with all Walter Hansel 2020 wines. I have a ton of Hansel wines of this vintage, and I love Walter Hansel wines. At first I thought it was just a bad bottle. But every one of the 2020 Hansel Pinots has been the same. They start with a horrible astringent taste which takes a long time to go away. Perhaps if they were decanted for an hour it would be better, but right out of the bottle the taste is simply bad. Perhaps it is the smoke from the fires? Others, like Bryant, simply didn't produce a 2020 vintage.
