Thursday, March 5, 2009 - Aroma packed a grapey/foxy punch when first popped & poured; fortunately this seemed to blow off pretty quickly, exposing jam, currant, raspberry, plum, and a little leather. Strong brambley, briary fruit up front with a little tannin midpalate; had a little bit lighter texture, more evocative of Shiraz than Cabernet. Tannins were lower but noticeable, especially on the finish, which was peppery with spice and cloves. Fruity overall and mildly unbalanced, but I'll drink it all day long at $8-9 /bottle. Best consumed the first night opened; flattened out considerably the next day.
