2021 Holly's Hill Grenache Noir

Community Tasting Note

Does not like this wine:

81 Points

Friday, November 4, 2022 - Aside from being released too young, this tastes like it was made with a total lack of passion. Pedestrian fruit with a prominent smell of alcohol. After an hour, the alcohol blows off and the flavors balance out but unfortunately, it’s no better a wine. I’m not sure where their advent falls, in relation to some of other stellar producers in the area but if you can’t make a notable Grenache in this AVA, you might want to reconsider your focus. I’ve been coming here for years and although early on, I excused their shortcomings as growing pains, they’ve been at it way too long to be stuck at this level.
Revisited on day 3, convinced the quirky edges would round out but came back to an acidic pinball machine;sharp with tart to sappy fruit that was so out of balance, I couldn’t even finish the glass.
