Thursday, December 14, 2023 - Deep crimson. Expressive nose of cassis, herbs, mineral, leather, smoke, a little underbrush. Very fine tannins and good length. Nicely structured but not austere by any means. I am surprised to see the alcohol on the label is 15% as this is not a big bruiser by any stretch and there is no heat detected on the palate. Despite the young age, this is a delight to drink right now - that has been my experience with previous vintages of Saffredi going back to 2013. They drink well young but also have plenty in reserve for further ageing. It will hit prime time by 2027 and drink well for 10-15 years beyond that. A good value for the high quality and one of my favourite SuperTuscans year after year.
