Sunday, January 14, 2024 - I bought a variety of $30 Chiantis recently and have tried 4 of them. The other 3 were delicious but this tasted like a cheap $8 bottle. Hopefully just an off bottle.

Sangiovese losses its character when blended with grapes that are way out of character with its nature. I will always love Sammarco and d'Alceo from this property, but something is amiss in Italy allowing wines to label themselves "Chianti" and add grapes like Cabernet and Merlot. This wine has no Chianti Classico character......why not just call it a Tuscan wine and give it a different name? Chianti Classico it certainly is not.
