97 Points

Monday, September 24, 2012 - hr:min
0:00: eucalyptus lept from the bottle. Understated fruit, bit of earth, and some spice.
1:00: tight, flat.
1:50: cassis and cherry. Great texture, firm tannins, oak, and bright acidity. Graphite and mint.
2:30: vanilla on nose and dark chocolate on finish.
4:00: grenadine and kirsch nose. Definitely more lush, fleshy, fruity. Chocolate covered cherries. tannins have receded.
4:30: roasted meats and umami on palate.

Such a dynamic wine; nose and palate have run the gamut, all the while supported by great textue, balanced acidity and tannins. Save for a dull period, it's been expressive yet ever balanced.
