Friday, April 13, 2007 - First experience with muscadet, compared beside an '05 Pepiere. Faint nose, not distinct of any fruit in particular. nicely perlant at first pour. Very lean, crisp, and acidic on the palate without being sharp. kind of a steely note to it. not much fruit, which i gather is typical. served with bay scallops over braised endive and leeks. went nicely, but not a wow experience.
night 2: much more bang for the buck! served with a vegetable stew with rosemary and leeks, wow! astonishing what it did with the rosemary. a tomato based soup too! very delicious.
