Thursday, April 11, 2024 - Tried the 2022 Spottswoode at a dinner party along with the new Vinum Dei SB. Overall preferred the Vinum Dei, but always love the Spottswoode.
This '22 Spottswoode is a zesty little number that makes my taste buds do a happy dance! Vibrant, with great aromas of grapefruit zest, freshly mowed lawn, and lemongrass. On the palate, it's a fruit salad of lime, green apple, and passionfruit flavors, backed by a brilliant zinginess. Plenty of racy concentration, while still being an elegant, lifted style. Fermented in a mix of stainless and neutral oak, there's no buttery or oaky business here. One of the best Napa SB's.
