Sunday, May 24, 2009 - Dark garnet to ruby at the rim. Decanter 12 hrs. Captivating nose of cedar and eucalyptus, graphite, spice, little bit of chocolate, red fruit like raspberries coated with just a dash of white pepper. Mouth coating on the attack, raspberries and brambly fruit on the attack, gorgeous acidity rushing straight down the center of the tongue, transitioning into dark powdery cocoa, like a basil/thyme herbal thing that runs right into what some would call heat but comes through clearly as eucalyptus/menthol on the back-end. Finish lasts forever. Unbelievably smooth, flawless balance. Massive presence but full of finess. This wine just clicks as classic and elegant. Speechless. Will hold for another 5-10.
