Sunday, September 24, 2023 - Quite austere, seems to be a significant style shift since the 2000's. Medium to full body. Blackberries. Robust structure. Long finish with some complexity. Not ready to drink yet, wait 5 years, then will last for decades.

Henschke ferment in open topped vats and use wooden slats to keep the cap in touch with the wine. Cultivated yeasts, low density vines which are ancient and huge. sandy, silt over clay over schist. Vines are phylloxera free and ungrafted.
