Saturday, March 29, 2008 - Popped and took an initial taste from the bottle. Very dark purple color. Some initial notes of reduction on the nose that blew off quickly. Tastes of meat/game up front with a hint of black pepper. Dark fruit hiding in the back. Decanted for 4 hrs and consumed over 3 hrs. Dark fruit becomes more prominent with a nice mix of meat/game. Pepper was a bit overwhelming for my tastes. There appeared to be a lingering taste of band-aid (brett?) in the background that I noticed, but it was slight. Good structure with medium levels of acidity and supple tannins.
