Saturday, March 26, 2022 - Drank in medium/sized white wine glasses. Disgorged in 2017 from 60 cuvées going back 20 years, but mainly a 2011 base. Very brief mousse on opening but reappears when you swirl, albeit again only briefly. Moderate but persistent streams of bubbles. Pronounced yellow gold colour but retaining a brightly fresh appearance. Nose is lightly candied lemon skin. Palate is quite tart, bitter almond, high acidity. Some toast on the finish, but not much. Top ups don’t add anything and generally just reinforce the disappointingly monotone overall character of effervescent vitamin C tablets. Disappointing compared to previous experience from the same case. 88-89 at my most generous.
