Sunday, July 15, 2012 - Bdx and Pizza (1201 Avenue B): Decanted 2hrs before trying. Nose was a little shy (seemed like it may have actually closed down from opening) but showed some subtle floral aromas, red fruit, and some tobacco. Palate was much more forward, with dense concentrated pure red fruits, prominent cedar spice and leaf tobacco. Finishes strong, with repeating red fruits, leafy herbs, and cedar box. Tannins are still prominent, but polished and fine. Well structured with great purity of fruit, clearly still needs 5+ yrs but very enjoyable now. On the more subtle side of bdx, classy, and slightly forward for margaux, but somewhat boring compared to some of the others this night. 92-93
