92 Points

Friday, October 12, 2012 - This deep red wine was "double" Vinturi-decanted, twice being aerated with the device. It was allowed 90 minutes in decanter prior to funneling back into the cleaned bottle. The wine was presented in double-blind fashion to our tasting group. My taste was unblinded. The nose delivers an impressive floral and dark fruit mix, with complementary truffle and earth components. Medium-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity, soft tannins and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13%). The wine is seamless and graceful, with a silky mouth texture and flavors mirroring the nose. The middle palate is solid and the lengthy finish is smooth. An absolute pleasure to drink at this point, this wine is likely in early plateau. Parenthetically, a sample in a glass showed even more fruit on the following day (having been left overnight unrefrigerated). Assuming that you have a well-cellared bottle, enjoy it over the next decade. Drink now-12/22.
