93 Points

Thursday, February 15, 2018 - Deep red, with very slight lightening at the rim. This opens up with a complex nose of new saddle leather, cigar box, red currants and a whiff of iris. It is medium-bodied, with red berries, underbrush, and minerals. There is gentle grip, good acidity and a moderately persistent finish. This bottle seems squarely in its drinking window, where I would imagine it will stay for a number of years. This is very good, but more recent vintages here (e.g. 2015) show better concentration and refinement. 93.
