Monday, July 15, 2019 - Brane-Cantenac's 2000 is a blend of 55% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Despite being 19 years of age, this pristinely-cellared bottle reveals a very youthful elixir. Deep garnet and highly aromatic, it flaunts scents of blackberries, lavender, anise, leather, loamy earth, cedar and orange creamsicle. Full-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose. The wine's alcohol (13%) is a non-issue and the tannins at this point, while present, are silky in texture. Solid in the middle and long on the finish, this is really coming into its own and will, if properly cellared, last much longer than previously projected. Drink now-2030.
