Thursday, January 18, 2024 - Give it a few minutes to breath. Initially the alcohol was strong in aftertaste but calmed down after a few minutes.

Like the other recent HDJ wines (CDR, CDP) this is very well balanced and has velvety fruit and firm tannins that are enjoyable at this early stage. Nice dark fruit blackberry and plum, smoke, and vanilla flavors. Very tasty though not complex.

My concern with all these wines is if they’ll develop and benefit from cellaring. The bottles are unusually clean, meaning the wine is likely fined and filtered well above average for rhone.
