Saturday, August 23, 2008 - This is, at the current stage, remarkably better than the Sonoma Coast bottling - no contest. I don't have a lot of experience with KB pinots, but this seems more elegant than what I recall, although I wouldn't say it is an 'elegant pinot', per se. On the nose, easily recognizable RRV spiciness, which I love, combined with some sweet toasted oak, lovely toasty vanilla, lilacs, and dark cherries, and some honey, which is an interesting component to the nose. The body is light, but not thin, and more cola, sweet toasted oak, apple peel, dark pitted fruits, and a slight bitter edge. I'm sure this will be very enjoyable in a few years, and even tomorrow after time in the refrigerator. Very nice.
