Saturday, April 8, 2023 - On the initial opening, the wine appears translucent and red-bricked from core to rim. The bouquet is magical with cedar and dusty rose. As the wine rests and slowly awakens, you can almost see it darkening in the decanter. An hour later with dinner at the ready, the wine – still translucent and still with a red-bricked rim – displays a gradual shading to a plum core. Cedar continues to dominate the nose. Cassis, tobo, and saddle leather are the workhorses that carry the cedar to a finish of dusty rose. The mouthfeel is classic Bordeaux middle-weight. All in all, the wine is nothing short of wonderful. This is why we cellar Bordeaux. Sediment? So much so that the bottom is sludge. Decanted. 13% alc. With rack of lamb. 04.08.23. Highly Recommended.
