Thursday, April 27, 2023 - Powerful aromas of blackberry, tobacco and a hint of brett. Black fruits predominate, with a strong streak of green tobacco. Fruitier and a bit lusher than the 2000 Leoville Barton I had recently, but tighter and more structured than the 2003 Leoville Poyferre I also had recently. The flavor profile screams Bordeaux (particularly with the old-school brett), but in a rounder, fleshier style, albeit still properly dry. There's a lot on display, but without that something special to elevate it to the highest ranks.
