Saturday, June 12, 2010 - Popped cork @ home 2 hours prior to taking to Byob. Open another hour prior to drinking, but not decanted. Dark cherry red. Nice, but non-expansive nose of plum, cassis and earth. Earth, crushed stones and subdued fruit of blackberry on the palate. Velvet finish and slight tannin. I like Poyferre, but expect more fruit from this vintage which continues to disappoint me. Maybe my expectations are too high due to the hype. Seems ready to drink, but a few more years or a good healthy 4+ hour decant wouldn't hurt.
