Sunday, June 16, 2013 - Open 24 hrs. Superlative wine. Very dark and dense ruby. Legs galore. The perfume coming out of the glass is special indeed. Ethereal, deeply fruited, dense-packed violets and iron. Huge mouthful, reaches every corner and spreads out to a broad swath of cedary cherry fruit. Still a relative baby though, with many years of life ahead. Only just showing its potential. Wow. 5-14-17-9: 95/100.

6/17/2013 3:04:00 PM - We had this last fall and it had a few hours of decanter time. i thought it was wonderful with great structure as well as the nose. Compared it to 1989 and 1990 Pichon-baron, and the '89 P-B was probably edging the 2000 L-P out, but I still like the Poyferre better than the '90 P-B which seemed to have a bit of heat to it. All three were great, but I like the classics of '89 and the structure and freshness of 2000. I agree that the crop of 2000 will delight us for many years to come.
