Monday, July 2, 2018 - This bottle was a little shy at first but opened nicely. This bottle may be closing down. Tanins seem still pronounced and fruit closing down. I will visit this again in a couple years.

7/2/2018 8:12:00 PM - Good to know this may need more time.....I picked up a 1.5 recently after having this on a trip to BDX last Sept. My only worry was the 1.5 came in with a very loose capsule, it slid right off with little effort and the cork under it looked a little funny, like maybe someone opened it an Ah So, sampled it and replaced the cork unevenly. These bottles should have 10 more years easily but I hate to wait that long if this bottles been tampered with only to find out it's bad!

7/3/2018 3:17:00 AM - I am wondering if this is something that is going on now with all 2000s. The 2000 Leoville Las cases I had was the same way. I will admit that I should have given 2-3 hours in decanter before I drank this poyferre but when I want wine when I get home from work I don’t want to wait 2-3 hours lol.

7/3/2018 5:04:00 AM - I think the decanting is the key and like you I can't wait 2-3 hours after I get home at 6-7pm to wait to drink it at 9 or 10. What I've done lately is save my French for an off day or the weekend and open it well in advance of dinner that night....or have my wife open them in ate afternoon when she gets home from work before me. Drink my Cali cabs on most work nights because I can pnp!

7/3/2018 5:58:00 AM - Perfect......I see you like your Hall cabs, especially Mt. Veeder. To me it's the single most overlooked app in Napa. Check out O'Shaughnessy. They make 3 cabs. Their Mt. Veeder is their best always beating their Howell Mtn by a point or two. Pricey but more than worth it.

7/3/2018 6:03:00 AM - I will do that. I love the flavor profiles of mt veeder cabs. I do not like lots of jammy fruit. Thanks for recommendation. I am still waiting to open a 2013 hall mt veeder. Supposed to be spectacular. I would definitely say the best 2013s are not ready.

7/3/2018 6:19:00 AM - Forgot to mention, Chris Carpenter (winemaker for LaJota, Lokoya, Cardinale) also makes a cab from Mt. Veeder, called Mt. Brave. Quite good. I'm waiting out the '13 and '14 in my chiller now. Decent price too, I think around $85 vs. $120 for O'Shaughnessy Mt. Veeder.

9/18/2018 5:02:00 PM - It’s hard to let incredible bdx sit undrunk especially with decanter time! This wine is a steal at less than 200 a bottle and definitely a real head turner. Glad you enjoyed!

9/19/2018 1:55:00 AM - Mark, If you really like this wine you owe it to yourself to track down a bottle of 1990! Also check out Pape Clement 2000. This wine is just as good!
