92 Points

Tuesday, July 7, 2020 - Was really looking forward to this one for the "Jennapalooza", perhaps so much so that anything less in performance would prove disappointing. And to me, it wasn't as good as the last bottle 2 years ago. The 92 is for the beautiful BDX nose more than anything else. Decanted nearly 3 hours and enjoyed over the next 4. The dark red/black fruit was nice and still fairly strong but not especially layered and there was some tart cherry on the somewhat short finish. We saved some for the next day, but time did not help it improve in any significant way. In fact, the short ending was maybe even shorter, maybe a 90 the 2nd day?

Although we gave it the same score, I am more positive on this wine than you—it really was excellent, but now that I think about it, maybe too young, given that it was a magnum.
Thank you for sharing it with us!!!

I have had good luck with my 750's in the past, but they are now all gone and this mag just didn't float my boat the same great way they did.....and I don't know exactly why. There was no pressure from you my friend, this was much needed visiting with my friends this week who, like me, love these aged BDXs.....

7/9/2020 2:15:00 PM - Thanks for the update, Jen......I know you like it but there is something missing from this bottle compared to those I've been drinking the past 3 years. I'm just not sure what it is! It's pretty decent but not what it could be, IMO. Just missing that special something......
