Sunday, July 31, 2022 - Exactly a year since last tasting the wine, and it has further evolved and without doubt is ready to drink. However, at this stage it really needs 4 or 5 hours in the decanter, and ideally 30 minutes in the glass to really come alive. It is starting to lose its youthful appearance and is showing early signs of bricking and has excellent viscosity. Blackcurrant, blackberry, tobacco and violet are prominent on the nose and palate with cedar notes now starting to appear. The nose is deeply aromatic with the depth and complexity of the palate excellent. The finish is exceptional and pushes past 90 seconds with a breathtaking depth, and in isolation merits a perfect score, and indeed has added an extra point to my rating. The tannin is compromising the mid palate, but is gradually resolving and year on year there has been significant improvement. Hopefully another year or two!
