90 Points

Saturday, October 22, 2011 - A still-dark ruby color. Even the tears on the glass retain a red hue. Took a while to open. Once it did, nice but not spectacular aromas of iodine, wood and red berry fruit. Fruity entry into the mouth, a little drying tannin, long-lasting impression on the palate with a rich and long finish. Mulberry-like fruit. This is still quite a youngster at 11 years on from vintage date, and at this point I am underwhelmed given the wine's reputation, but it wouldn't surprise me if this wine blossomed with more bottle age. 4-12-16-8: 90/100
