Friday, January 15, 2010 - Sexy, serious wine. Colour has a nice brown tinge to it and there is a glossy sheen to this wine - it has a look of quality about it. Nose at first out of the bottle was rich strawberry, deep pungent herbs, dark fruit. Taste is sweet fruit with a deep grilled meat tang to it. Stuck it in the decanter for a couple of hours and drank the rest over 5 hours - wine becomes much more earthy with the tannic structure coming to the fore - notes of white pepper much more pronounced - very nice balance with more pronounced meat and herbs and a more dry finish - the sweetness of the fruit receding. Very very good - needs a long time to lose its sweetness and let the secondary characteristics come through. Good value (£35) and can actually be drunk now but this will be much better in 5-10 years.
