Thursday, October 5, 2023 - Visits in the Wachau and Kamptal; 10/4/2023-10/5/2023 (In and around the Wachau and Kamptal, Lower Austria): The nose shows off excellent complexity and fragrance with succulent tones of nectarines, spiced pears, crushed rocks, peaches, fresh herbs, spice notes, candied lemons, and some spring floral tones. There is good depth and balance here with the nose straddling the line between the more herbal side of Gruner and the more citrus-y side. The Medium bodied feel carries through the balance of the nose while leaning more into the juciness of the fruit along with racy, high acidity. This is a clear step up from the other Ott wines as it shows more depth and complexity than what came before it. I would like to see what this is like after a few years when it settles into itself a bit better.
