Friday, September 14, 2012 - Decanted briefly. Dark and quite dense colour in the glass. The nose a bit tight but opening up slowly. Blackberry the most evident, and somewhat alcoholic nose too. The palate comprised of intense dark fruit flavours. Blackberry again. The alcohol evident but not tarnishing the wine. Intense, extracted vintage resulting in a tad more "clumsy" wine than a typical vintage from Usseglio. I would give the remaining 4 bottles more cellar time. I guess dinking window could be from 2014 onwards.
