Friday, April 5, 2024 - Popped & poured upon release from the retail monopoly & my first go with this superb (yet arguably young…) Castello di Monsanto Gran Selezione (v19, 14.5% ABV) - super-classic approach, lovely finesse & weight. Fully translucent red-ruby, bright & shiny in appearance. Bangingly open nose w earth, tar, fresh leather, balsamic & pure scents of cherries & raspberries, lavender & smoke. Surprisingly supporting palate, crunchy texture, again balsamic, deeply concentrated fruit, v vinous, closing on a bitter-sandy note!
